Watch out for an email about Marion Island, ZS8T. Just received an announcement that I am now on the ZS8T Marion Island mailing list, sent via our ADXA site and was from very suspicious address of xxx at google .. Said I would be notified on all updates and that I am signed in to start posting if I wish.. DO NOT unsubscribe or reply. I never signed in to anything and the first I have heard of any ZS8 operation in a few years.
Typical, down below the announcement, that you can “unsubscribe” by clicking a link. DO NOT click that link.. It also gives an address in California as the sending entity. That is typical too. I clicked unsubscribe 2+ years ago on something sent to me from two non ham entities, advertising something. Within days I started getting up to 10-12 emails a day. Cox can not help since not from a “Cox” customer. I blocked all the unwanted email addresses until I ran out of the # I could block. The initial 2 who sent to me then sell my valid address to 1000s of other spam businesses as an “active email address”.
Do NOT send an “unsubscribe” back to the spammers. I just threw 9 unwanted spam emails this morning into my ‘Spam’ folder, some from the same entity with just ONE letter or number different from the others in the email address header. The trigger to me was it was sent to k5yy @ adxa . org which I NEVER use anywhere. So my address and perhaps yours could have come from some master list from the ADXA.. I don’t know but wanted the ADXA members to know…
