Pat,

It’s a shame you were gallivanting around with the Navy when I did KA1DX for a week in 1972. There was a full-time JD1 station at the Japanese weather station across the way. KA1MI was the comm officer at the Coast Guard station and was pretty active. I planned to go to Iwo Jima before I left Japan but got sent home early due to my dad’s illness.

We went by Air America C-46 to Marcus.

73,
Dennis

JD8NQJ goes there occasionally on work assignments. I think he is there now but don't think he has been active. Civilians are restricted from the Island execpt got the Meteorological Agency. Probably would make it difficult to stage a DXpedition. Wikipedia has good info on history.
