As a follow up, signals continue to be very good to parts of southeast
asia and the pacific in the mornings before sunrise (SR) on the low bands.
If you haven't tried 160 meters, or are new to the band and need some new
ones now is a good time to start. If you're not ready to jump in to 160
give 80 or 40 a try around the same time, early morning, into the same
area
JD1BMH on Ogasawara continues to have a very strong signal into Arkansas,
especially from about 1245z to 1315z. Harry hears very well and is usually
on 1824.0 to 1824.5
Tuesday and again this morning there were several JA's on with very big
signals. Some of the larger stations you can easily work on 160 are
JA8ISU, JA7NI, JH2FXK, JA7QVI and others. Remember Japan stations cannot
go above 1825 so listen between 1815 and 1825.
DU7ET is on 160 every morning, usually on 1813. Robert ha been Q5 copy
here the past three mornings. His signal arrives via a skewed path so if
you have a directive RX antenna listen to the southwest along the grey
line direction.
BU2AQ and HL5IVL are also on most days with very good signals that you
should be able to copy with a moderate antenna.
The Palmyra Atoll operation, K5P, from the pacific is on schedule to fire
up next week. This is one you need to work if you don't have it at all, or
need it on a particular band or mode especially if you are a new DX'er as
there won't be another operation from there for several years due to U.S.
gov't restrictions.
