For our newer DX folks (and some old dogs just getting in to low bands)
160 and 80 have been excellent the past two mornings to JA, JD1 and the
pacific.

Harry, JD1BMH in Ogasawara was peaking 25 to 30 dB above my noise floor
yesterday morning near sunrise and he is booming in here again today much
earlier. I can even hear him very well on my 75 meter inverted V and my
160 shunt fed tower I use for transmitting which is extremely noisy. Harry
hears very well so if you don't have Ogasawara JD1 on 160 meters you might
want to load up something if you don't have a 160 meter antenna and give
him a call if you can hear him. He's pounding in early today but your
prime time will be from about 30 mins before our sunrise until sunrise
(currently around 6:45 to 7:15 AM in Arkansas).

If you have more than one antenna check them all to see if you can hear
him, even if it is not a 160 meter antenna....."gain" is NOT important for
low band receive antennas but directivity and noise reduction are so give
it a try.

Live on a city lot and don't think you can work low band DX??? Next time
you see K5UR ask him how many low band countries he worked from his little
apartment while at the U of A with "just a wire"! I've seen it !! :-)))

Sleeping in today?? Listen tomorrow morning. Now that winter has finally
arrived top band condx are improving and we have a number of major
DXpeditions forthcoming that you can get ready for.
