In a "post VP8" world I trust you haven't gone DX Dead! There is a ton of
gud DX on the bands.

I attended the ARRL National Convention in Orlando weekend before last and
had an opportunity to visit with several old friends and DX'ers. It was
also good to see ADXA member and ARRL President K5UR in action promoting
amateur radio and ARRL.

I was also very pleased to visit with long time friend and ADXA Charter
member and first ADXA President Bill Priakos, W5SJ.

DX News -

VP8SSTI/VP8SGI - for those who were individual donors to the DXpedition
that have submitted QSL requests via the OQRS, check your LoTW account as
your confirmations should be there. The on-line logs and OQRS for
DXpeditions today are great and definitely less stressful than the worries
of yesteryear when we would have to wait months for the crew to return,
wait for a card and only then discover you worked a SLIM or were not in
the log!

K5P - LoTW confirmations and paper QSL cards for individual donors have
arrived.

3XY1T Guinea - This is one you need to grab. There is no regular operation
from this one and I2YSB and team currently have it activated on all bands
with excellent signals. They have their low band TX antennas out in the
salt water and have amazing signals on 160 and 80.

A35T - A DXpedition comes on from Tonga at least every year or two but
sometimes signals are challenging. This group has had very good signals
into Arkansas on the higher bands. On 10 meters yesterday they were
booming in.

LISTEN, LISTEN AND THEN LISTEN - Yesterday A35T was on 10 meters with a
big sig, then some knucklehead that could not, or did not, copy the call
correctly spotted them as 3XY1T. A wild frenzy broke out with several
other spots claiming "3XY1T Long Path!!" Of course, at the time of day it
was posted it was virtually impossible to have a direct path signal from
3X on 28 MHz, much less long path!! This emphasizes the requirement that
you study propagation and understand what you will hear from various parts
of the world on different bands at certain times of the day. DON'T BE THAT
PERSON THAT LOOKS LIKE A FOOL by making a ridiculous post on the DX
cluster!!!!!!

National Parks On-The-Air - Lots of activity with this ARRL sponsored
operating event. As you have seen from his posts, ADXA member Rick, AI5P,
as activated a number of areas on the list. Bored with radio?? Jump in on
this one.

Our next in-person meeting is March 19. Mark your calendar and plan to
attend. Also, we will be presenting a DX Forum at the Russellville hamfest
March 5.
