[ADXA] Grey Line?

I worked XW1B (Bruce, AA4XR) on 20M RTTY (14.083) via long path yesterday
afternoon late (00:14 UTC).  He had a honest to goodness 579 signal on my
modest 2el compact beam at 35ft.  I was running about 400watts and got a
"Big Signal" comment from him.   That rarely happens!  This had to be grey
line enhancement?  I do have favorable terrain for the long path to Asia but
this is the first XW I have ever worked on any mode.  I've heard and called
a few on 20M CW on short path but never made the grade.  Short path is "up
hill" for me. 

 

Bruce appears to have a nice station/antenna.  He has moved permanently to
Laos.  Hopefully we can all catch him on other bands/modes.
