Dear Gary,

 

I do agree with the other suggestions if - and only if - you have the
possibility of adding a good system of radials. Otherwise I think you should
consider the Sigma 80 from Force12 which is a (shortened) vertical dipole
with capacitive loading at the top and at the bottom. Combined with the
Tornado drive it can be used on the entire band from 3.5 to 4.0 MHz plus the
entire 40 meter band.

At my site I do have some problems with HF in the shack when running high
power.

I am looking for some advice on a reasonably sized antenna for 80m.  My
primary goal is to be able to work DX from the East Coast into Europe and
the Middle East.  I do have the linear space, but not many trees for getting
wire high off the ground.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.
