you can pick up an Alinco DJ-4C for about $30...it is size of credit card
but has all the features...I run one mobile with amp and one base...yes
J-Pole is way to go...I have design in copper or in simple tv twinlead and
both do well....if you want some real gain a coliinear or 4-pole is a snap
to pop together and gives you 6db omni or 9 db lobed
