[600MRG] New Antenna near Tree + Rain

New Antenna + Rain...
    i just moved the radiating vertical of my antenna nearer to my tree support.
The rain today raised the resonant frequency from 473 to 510 kHz.
The Q still looks the same at 510 kHz as it was at 473 kHz.
What happened?
My antenna tuning coil is outside but shielded from rain (i think).
My old antenna had a 10 x 10 foot top hat and the vertical wire was out in the open away from the tree. Maybe i should go from a "L" (Configured like the letter Resh in Hebrew) antenna to a "T" antenna.
   i don't want to retune the antenna for 'rain' because rain happens very infrequently.
