[600MRG] 630m noise

 Hi Dave, All:

I have the same issue here. " wandering ( drifting around ) " noise sources... Solar Chargers - SMPS, etc.
all kinds of neighborhood noise, and of course the usual Powerline buzzing.
My opinion on using a Notch Filter ( from trying to do so in software ); More often it hurt rather than helped.
A set frequency Notch worked only when the " drifter " was in it... Auto Notch would follow the drifter - BUT -
would end up - at some point - notching out wanted frequencies, And , had to be wide because the drifter
occupies several cycles of BW, as does its harmonics/sidebands... Results of others may be different...

Is anyone here working on a way to increase their sig/noise ratio on 630m??

My WSPR receiver has been relatively deaf but I may be on the road to
better sigs..

With the SDR receiver on 475 khz. and set for long FFT times I see a
wandering, wide, noisy carrier coming down the water fall usually around
474.8 or so...

And I see upper sides bands of the same 'carrier' going up through 476+...

I broke out the old Dallas Lankford home brew phaser and am using the
80m windom as the noise antenna with the vertical loop as receive input...

I see instant increase in signal and strength gathering of WSPR sigs..

It is a work in progress so I'm looking for hints and kinks info..
