Hi Paul,
>It doesn't actually track states worked.
Ralph's list does not track states worked by each station. It only
shows the stations, organized by state, that have completed at least
one two-way QSO. Looking at both lists side-by-side, they appear to
track the same kinds of things, with different organization.
But you could easily track active states on 2200m in much the same way
that Ralph does with states colored in on a map. Doing so might
encourage people to keep information up to date and in the public
domain.
Having said that, I DO track QSO's completed daily as best as I can
for my daily reports and that's one of the ways that Ralph figures out
if there is a new station to add to the "WAS list" which is published
on Monday's. Some of the additional information is gleaned from
things that I write in the daily reports (like state totals or modes)
or from e-mail interactions that Ralph has with operators.
Unless you just want to do something similar for 2200m, you probably
don't have to expend that energy right now BUT the trend seems to be
that there will be more stations on 2200m this coming season, most of
which are also very active on 630m right now, looking for Q's but I
don't have a feeling for exactly what that means yet. It could mean
stations monitoring both bands while actively working one, making a
jump when an opening is observed. OR there are many stations that
have separate stations for each bands and can operate both bands at
the same time. Or it could mean something as simple a a band change
for the season. We will see what happens.
