Hi Rudy
I do know that a six meter 3-500 tube amplifier that used a shorted
rotatable turn inside the tank coil was unstable resonance-wise as
things heated up during transmissions. I used a 0.25" wide by 1/16th"
thick strip for the shorted turn.
I discarded that ARRL Handbook design and converted my Heathkit
SB-220 amp to 6M. It has been a reliable amp for me.
