Starting from scratch, 630m and 2200m tube transmitters make no sense
technically but, when I think about them I get a really comfortable warm
fuzzy feeling. These are familiar old friends. A cold silent
hyper-efficient solid-state block does not excite those feelings. Tubes are
almost alive, warm and lighted, real company in the shack at night. It's
even better if the tubes are elderly and a bit gassy like myself. When you
push down the key you get a lovely blue glow in synch with your CW and if
you push the power you can have nice rosy glow in the middle of the plates,
which makes for even more gas.
Just do it for the fun of it!
You'll have to rescale the RF part values to be appropriate for the much
lower frequency but that's completely practical if there's enough space in
the enclosure.
