Bill,
I was thinking that as I wrote my last
reply. WSPR has to be consciously sought out
since its not just "listening". CW will be
easier for the casual ham drifting down from HF
experience. But there is a lot of new activity
on HF with digital modes so many of them are
knowledgeable to look for WSPR signals.
It makes sense for all to be on a common freq for
WSPR. I was just following Fritz suggestion
without prior knowledge of current activity. One
of my concerns is that the 630m band will get
started in a totally unorganized manner with each
station or local group establishing their "band
plan". Repeating the chaos that VHF FM
experienced in its infancy (and replicating what
is happening on certain mw bands right now).
The XSH group has a (short) window to lead in planning the band usage.
