So I've heard. Although Icom's designs are, in my opinion, very good, their ways of 
implementing those designs in hardware often leave a LOT to be desired. I.e. 
IC2-KLPS.....gee.... :-(

That sounds like an excellent idea! I mean the thread.

I had considered a transverter too. I just thought it was very interesting that a "modern" 
transceiver could be effectively modified to cover 630 meters.
