Ive also been on 6 since 1957 and if you cant accept anothers opinion
without an insult you have a serious problem.
There is nothing wrong with an EX CBer who adapts to ham radio; its the ones
that continue as if 6 was a 11M extension that irk me. I held the CB call
2W1496 when the FCC stole 11M and ran the Viking I at 100W as I had been;
same as many others until the FCC offered a blanket amnesty to those running
QRO and no license; at least around the NYC-LI- NJ area.
Those were fun days.
I still like AM and can often be found on 50.4 with a Clegg Zeus and
Interceptor B and have worked quite a few DX on the mode. Ive also restored
several pieces of other vintage gear and use on 160-10M AM. Quite a few EX
CBers have found it enjoyable to hear AM as it should sound. There is also
quite a lot of AM on 29.0 to 29.1 including DX.
Since Im well rounded I also operate modern gear on CW/SSB right up to 2304
MHz (-;
The next frontier will be digital modes plus 600M when it opens to hams.

:::: "Let the CB crowd have .125 and up" is a stunningly ignorant comment. I
have been on six meters since 1957 and enjoyed Worked All States, DXCC, and
even EME, and made many long lasting friends among the group you refer to as
the "CB" crowd.

When I want to work 6M DX I rarely use SSB as there are a lot more fine DX
ops on CW...and usually longer haul also.

:::: The same thing goes on here in east TN, where the e-skip rarely blesses
us, and Lord knows we need all the DX help we can get. There is a crew of
guys that hang out constantly on the calling Fx. No amount of talking to
them does any good. They simply are incapable of comprehending the concept.
Their answer is that it's good that they hang out there so someone will
notice them.....the only thing is that all have mediocre stations because
they report hearing my 2KW and giant beam as S6. I have simply given up
trying. Mentoring only works when someone wants to learn, or even cares.

You can't just blame the 'no code' or 'CB' mentality. We need to kindly
help these guys fit into the mainstream.........yesterday there were at
least 3 domestic stn.s sitting in the traditional DX window of 50100-50125
just chatting and passing out grid squares. I hrd. several in there at least
30 mins. of CQing & chatting. Maybe you hrd more. Besides being impolite &
ignoring the traditional rules of the game they were QRMing DX. There were
CT & CU stn.s being covered by these stn.s. Someone probably lost a chance
to work a new DX while these guys couldn't figure out they should have been
25 kc higher in the band. I did hear several stn.s ask these stn.s to QSY
out of the DX window. They were ignored. Guys we don't need to flame them.
We need to mentor them......
