Hi all
Today is a big day for OZ7IGY the oldest ham radio beacon in the world www.oz7igy.dk A temporary status page is here www.rudius.net/oz7igy
Today at noon, local time, the old 2 m and 6 m beacons were shut down and replaced by two new beacons using the Next Generation Beacon platform www.rudius.net/oz2m/ngnb
The beacons are now frequency and time locked to GPS. Thus the frequency is within 5 mHz. The sequenced is timed to start at 00 second sending JT65C2 followed by a short pause then CW ID sending callsign and locator, then pause and carrier until next cycle.
The new 6 m beacon has also moved in frequency from 50,021 MHz to 50,471 MHz in compliance with the IARU Region 1 VHF Managers decision. The 2 m beacon continues to be on 144,471 MHz.
The plan is to replace all the old beacons with the new platform as time permits.
Listeners reports and feed back are highly appreciated.
