MNI MNI TNX to Andre for his diligence and dedication in trying 6m EME with me!
Andre has only a 4 element yagi and 600w, and we tried two JT65A skeds (one of them
very long) this week before deciding to start the third sked when his moon was 60
degrees elevation! Apparently he has a very high lobe due to his antenna being
mounted near the roof of his building, and it resulted in the most unusual EME
contact I have ever had!
Anyway, today we completed in record time after starting at 60 degrees elevation! I
decoded him at 59 degrees:
220700 1 -26 1.6 -3 3 # W7GJ C5YK IK13 OOO 0 10
220900 0 -33 7.3 -24 1
221100 6 -27 -3 2 RRR
221300 1 -31 -4 66 RRR
Today, conditions for 6m EME were as good as they get! Degradation was -1.1 dB and
the Kp index was 1.0. It was my 6m DXCC #167 (DXCC #116 via 6m EME). I am so
grateful for Andre's spirit of DXing, his patience, and his great willingness to try
something new. He now has the first ever 6m EME contact from The Gambia in the log!
Good DX and VY 73, Lance
