The Essex was fully operational in the early 60's, and based in Quonset
Point, RI. I steamed with her aboard another ship many times and have
pictures I took of her flight deck about a third under water during a
rather nasty November 1962 North Atlantic storm. I was on a fully loaded
tanker of 32' draught and we just went straight thru the waves rather
than up and over! The tin cans got the worst of it, they rode like
corks.
I believe she was the last wooden deck carrier in active service and was
being used for ASW work at that time.

The Essex is a floating museum if memory serves, Ray......CVS is Carrier
Vessel Ship, which no operational carrier is now...all are CVNs
(Nuclear)
and the Essex Class hasn't been in service in decades....(since WWII)
Must be a special event operation...possibly anniversary of launch or
decommissioning date.

So... I take it you'll be operating from the USS Essex at that time?
Where will the Essex be at that time?
