The guys who REALLY got it right are Yaesu with the FT-897 (and possibly
other Yaesu rigs -- don't know). Not only can you switch to CW on the fly
(with the appropriate sidetone VFO offset) by just touching the key, but it
actually switches mode to CW on transmit only. So you're still receiving in
SSB mode on the original SSB frequency (unless/until you manually change
modes to CW). What's more, this actually works in QSK mode at keying speeds!
Flawlessly. You can hear SSB voice and/or CW between the transmitted Morse
elements. All this functionality is menu-configuration optional.

Somebody at Yaesu really got it, at least on the FT-897. I'd be interested
to know what other 6M-capable transceivers have this same functionality.
