The other thing it lacks is automatic VFO offset when switching from SSB to
CW and back again, so you don't lose a CW signal you hear in SSB mode. It's
understandable they're not hip to that, because that feature is most useful
(I would say absolutely critical) on VHF/UHF, where SSB and CW are used
interchangeably, on-the-fly, on SSB frequencies during weak-signal
conditions. And they have no history of making rigs for VHF. Still learning.
I'm currently lobbying them very hard to include this in their next firmware
update. We'll see.
That said, I don't think they could have built in a whole second receiver
(at least with the same specs) for $3,000. I think they wanted to bring it
in under the price of the IC-756 Pro III, and that wouldn't have been
possible with a second receiver. MHO.
