I've got the RT-68 and RT-70 as well.  Those radios run a fairly wide FM
signal.  It can still be picked up my ham rigs, but sometimes difficult.
Also, tuning in other stations is sometimes hard, but not impossible by any
means.  But not to fear, i've made contacts with both of those radios when
the band is open.  I made a contact with the RT-70 which runs about 500mW
from Illinois to somewhere on the east caost.  Most of my mil-gear contacts
are local guys when we've set up a sked.  It's fun to get those old radios
