I have a Ranger RCI-5054 DX-100 which is an all-mode 6 meter radio
that would likely work better as a base station than mobile as I
do.. I would recommend an amplifying speaker to make up for what
some perceive as a weak receiver..
E-bay and some swap meets may yield one of the lower powered units at
less than new cost.
If there are any 6M repeaters, I would recommend getting one of the
optional tone encoders needed to access most repeaters..
