Sixclub was started by Lisa Lowell and her hubby if memeory serves..now
Jerry W9FS runs it (and I WAS associated with it...until I was removed
rather quickly from taking it over from him (That's another story but not
for here). I JUST wish SOMEONE would get their act together and remove MY
PayPal address from the site (I never accept them anyway)! Last I saw there
were ~3000 members of sixclub...As for the history of sixclub, I cannot say
for sure but I seem to remember there WAS some infighting many years ago
which lead to the formation of it or a splinter group moving off to form
another list..
I know about SMIRK, I run that list, too,

There is also the 6mtr list on Yahoogroups...(where ANYONE can start a mail
list up...just ask W3KKC)

I will say this about the Yahoo mail list...you can either get them in your
inbox or read them on the web site..I like that....I cannot get to my
personal email at my work due to the company's overzealous IT guys who block
ALL email sites/ports, etc except our own company Exchange...but rather than
subscribe the office address, I can go to Yahoogroups.com web site and read
the list messages there...(strange but true! BUT forget about Yahoo mail or
Hotmail or anything similar)...I wish the list on QTH offered that...it
would be nice to catch up during lunch, etc..

I am headed to my father's grave shortly....he was a Master Platton Sgt (I
think that was a DI) in the Marine Corps in WWII in the Pacific; he died in
72 before I got my ham ticket at age 14 (closest I got was Capt in the Civil
Air Patrol)
