[50mhz] new to 6 meters...

Hello,
  I got a early father's day present.
  A Ranger RCI 5054 DX100 , and im really looking forward to getting it on 
the air.
I have a old 6 meter Ringo , and I know thats good for fm as a vertical. 
But thats about all i know for 6 meters.

Can I get some advice?

  I'm working on upgrading to a general class this summer, I'm still a no 
code tech, but I am studying...so HF wouldn't be too far behind the 6 meters.
