The list will not allow an attachment so I am also replying direct to ya!
Anyone else interested, I will have a copy posted on the 6mt.com web site
under the FM page. BTW when 10mtrs was first opened to fullscale rptr use in
the late 70s (before then, you HAD to show a need to the FCC to get
permission to put a 10mtr rptr on!), the original bandplan Texas adopted was
15 kHz spaced...we all know who lost that argument with the rest of the
country going 20 kHz spaced at first....the current 10 kHz ops are
ridiculous in my opinion..we need to open more up for rptr svc on ten like
29.0 - 29.7 but the FCC wont because of continuing sat use below 29.5! Also
for those interested, here is a link to my proposed bandplan change on 6m
that I presented back in 1997 but was NEVER acted on (voted on) by the
wonderful TX VHF FM Society.. http://www.6mt.com/fm2bp.doc
My Midland Syntech II has all the -1 and -1.7 MHz split channels in it...I
COULD add all the 500 kHz channels but I doubt I will run across any of them
:) .....I can change the PL from the control head but then it changes it on
ALL channels so to save that PL, I have to add it to the channel using the
programmer later...the manual change is a universal change for all channels
in the radio at the time but it restores normal programming on a power
cycle..but still it IS a pain (I feel your pain..but the amateur gear is a
bit easier to program :)
As for state wide PL, I would agree to that....it makes no sense to run PL
on a 6mtr rptr unless you have a IMD problem anyway...there just is not that
much trouble with 6 being "overcrowded" like 2 or 440...even though nowadays
you can listen to most rptrs on any band in Houston and other places and
except for a handful, MOST are DEAD quiet.....
