Welcome to the Magic Band! Chris (the previous message) pretty well summed
it up. Great rig, okay antenna. If you want to work some serious mobile SSB,
you'll need a mobile SSB antenna. I have a square antenna I toss on my Jeep when
the band is coming open, but I routinely run just a Larsen NMO-50 because I
also want to keep tabs on my repeater. (53.250 output, 51.55 in, 1.7 MHz split)
And I am in EM27, Joplin, MO. Get a grid map and get ready for the summer fun
of grid-hunting!

Which reminds me, we used to have a fellow drop by once in a while that was the
captain of a petroleum tanker. He would mention his route over a certain time frame,
and it was fun to make W1LM / MM contacts with him while he was in the Gulf of
Mexico or up or down the Atlantic or Pacific sea coasts. (MM is Maritime Mobile,
pretty rare grid squares but they count towards your VHF/UHF Century Club count)
So, a mobile to MM contact is really nice! :-)
