I have a question. I am getting ready to buy a house and the area will
allow
me to put an antenna up. Someone told me that 30' would be good. Does this
sound good?

Generally speaking, antenna's at different heights will produce different
results even on the same band. Propagation is a strange animal to tame.
This is why you will see many contest stations (HF primarily) with antennas
on the same bands at different heights to be used for different continents.

Generally speaking 30'-40' is an adequate overall height for 6 meters.
