Mark,
you are correct IF the antenna is properly cut and matched...
but for those who dont want to, using the coax to make the
antenna SWR seem ok at the xmtr is an old trick.....
BUT you are technically correct...if the guys had bothered to tune
the antenna and get the SWR down to 1:1 AT the antenna, then any length
of coax back to the radio will not change that...if the SWR AT the
antenna is say 1.5 or 2:1 ,then the 100ft of coax would make the
radio "see" a lower SWR....problem is they also loose MORE power in
that 100ft than if they ran straight to the antenna with a
slightly higher SWR!
