I have heard some SSB up to 50.35 or so.....50.3 is
sometimes used by S CA for FM!!! (wish the FCC had
not opened up that can of worms and kept +/- 5 kHz
dev or more FM ABOVE 51.0....yes I am also a rptr
trustee/operator and feel that 3 MHz is wide
enough for NBFM on 6 ! :)
I also love AM and feel 50.4 should be preserved...
in fact, with the band not opening above 50.2 or
50.3 sometimes, maybe AMers should look lower...
but then a turf war would start...something NONE
of us want to see....If I over stated something,
please accept my apology...I was merely making some
broad statements and not etching them in stone :)

Agreed.......wonder WHY 50.4 was the AM freq though
the voice section was down to 50.1??? Anyone know
the history? FM I can quote from memory...but
the choice of 50.4 for AM, I am not sure of...

again Bruce, I agree....I dont think any of us wants
that flame war......I was just quoting off the top
of my head for "limits" of certain segments....
obviously 50.4 to 50.8 IS used for various modes
(with 50.4 being the AM Calling freq...but I have
heard AMers move up off that).....of course 50.8
to 51MHz should be left alone by any operator for
the RC folks that operate there...and we dont wish
any harm to anyone there! (A scale RC plane doing 60MPH
can do serious harm or KILL someone!....for those not
in the know, PLEASE dont transmit there!!)
NOW if we could get all the FM guys to agree on a
national split....but somehow I just dont see that
happening! Pity!
