I can't speak for your area, but here in Mid-Michigan, there is sporadic
simplex activity on FM. Several local groups use 52.49, 52.54 and 52.55 in
the evenings. There are also a lot of people around the country that
monitor 50.125 SSB, and when the band opens, you should hear much activity
on that frequency. For FM activity when the band opens, monitor 52.525.
Don't forget AM and CW, both of which are used as well on six meters.
