Some beacons have more to do with weak signal detection and long time
integration decoding capabilities, such as JASON.  PSK31 is too easy, from
my experience, I would compare it to browsing the internet or picking up the
phone, nothing compared to JASON, WSPR, Part 15 operations and various forms
of QRSs.  What was the mode used for 5W 2m EME that took something like a
week to get a callsign out?  Not the same as tossing a callsign out on
146.52.

Andy- JASON looks cute, and may have some small advantages for weak signals,
but IMHO, I think your Beacon would be more effective if it used a mode
already in wide spread use, like PSK31, or its relatives.
A beacon should be readily readable with common capabilities, not rarely
used ones. I did a Google search on JASON, and found NO references to
software or radio in a long list of responses.  QED
