If your signaling needs are simple, using DC is the easiest option. A 100mh
choke will provide adequate RF isolation. A .01mfd capacitor can be used to
block the DC. I have used this configuration many times for simple
requirements. It works well and generates no interference whatsoever as
long as the coax does not have water in it.

I am about to deploy some Beverages and I thought it would be good to use
the coax for signalling as well, but the rf transformers of course present a
little problem. I thought if I were to use tone signalling (rather than dc
levels), say CTCSS and use an opto-isolator to get around the transformers
that might do the trick. That's as far as I've got, but it may give someone
an idea.
