[160m] Proton Event & Ionospheric Storm In Progress

.....My forecast for the proton flux level and geomagnetic activity
following the M 9.5 class solar flare is: elevated Kp indices of 4-5 and
also an elevated proton flux level of at least 10 +1/2. What does this mean?
More D layer absorption and some high latitude propagation path blocking
during the next few days, on 160 meters and even more so on the AM broadcast
band.....

Well unfortunately it looks like my forecast above verified. We have reached
a Kp index of 5 and proton flux level of 10 +2! It's an interesting
phenomena how delayed elevated energetic proton levels can be after an
initial solar flare blast.
