[10m] AM and FM activity?

My HTX-10 is mobile in my '93 Ford Ranger. I'm in Oklahoma, so Japan is a
tough stretch with only 25W, unless conditions are perfect (which they
haven't been since I got it installed). I've worked a lot of the southwest,
and several in the Carolinas or Virginia (as well as most of the states
between) on sideband. I've heard a few repeaters on FM, but could never key
any of them up. That's only happened a couple of weeks ago when we had the
big solar flares. I only put the radio in the truck in April, so I've never
really experienced a "good" 10m opening. I have worked a couple of South
American stations.
My antenna is a 1/4 wave whip (96") mounted to the inside of one of the
stake holes.
