Howdy Henry, Thanks for posting something to the group via this reflector.
Sometimes I forget that I'm signed up on this one, I guess it's the lack of
tracfic.
I am a mobile operator on ten and twelve. I'm running a Ranger RCI 2950DX
into an RM KL-500 amp to a 102 inch stainless steel whip whip mounted on the
back of the toolbox on my pickup. I have found that this setup is reliable and
fairly inexpensive to replace if I were to have a break in.
My operating habits are of the hunt and pounce type on ten but we do have a
frequency that a few of the local fellows use and it's 28.395. Like most other
little groups that have a "local freq." we enjoy having others jump on in if
they hear us.
My base rig is an Alinco DX70th with a LDG autotuner to either a inverted L
or an Antron 99 up at about 36 foot. This setup has worked well for me when
fooling around on HF. In addition to my HF setup, I have an Icom 746 Pro and a
longboom M2 yagi on the 6 meter SSB calling frequency of 50.125 looking for any
openings whenever they occur.
HF is great for passing the time in between 6 meter openings!
Take Care and I hope to work your station one day.
