[1000mp] FT-1000MP MARK -V frequency run away

Hi Rod,
  
 I had exactly this problem with my MKV I had four years ago. It would start tuning itself down in frequency. It would vary between a few minutes to around a hour. Yaesu UK had for repair twice before locating the problem. The cause turned out to be a small 3 wire voltage regulator which I believe is located on the front panel PCB somewhere. They didn't tell exactly where it was located but only that it was noisy. I believe they found it by seeing the ripple (oscillations) on a scope.
