This problem reminds me of a bad solder joint but not at the output of 
the rig.

If you feel comfortable removing the covers I would get an insulated 
probe. I would specfically look first on the regulator board.

Yaesu engineers did not make it easy to get into this unit as you must 
not only take off the top but also the side pieces. After that remove 
the PA sink and move it to the side as far as the slack will allow and 
not touching anything.

With the rig on and low power start probing the regulator board with 
slight pressure. There is a relay on that board that has given trouble 
due to bad solder joint or caused by vibration from it own activity.

I would download the service manuel from:

Basically I would look for a bad solder joint on the regulator then next 
the PA board and then the LPF board. These are all listed in the index 
of the service manuel with a picture.
