That is normal, I don't use AM but I see only one setting in the menu for power out and if you set it for 100 than you also get 100W in AM mode . You can reduce it with the RF power control next to the Mic input. I only use the AM setting for tuning the amp. Jurgen N9RD

Yes , once you set it in the menu, just hit enter and it will stay that way until you change it.
