[1000mp] FT-1000MP AM Operation

AM operation on the FT-1000MP is a bit tricky to provide good 
transmitted audio.

Too high a power and the audio will not be liked by some of the AM crowd.

Set  AM output to 25 watts, no more.

Turn off mic processor.

Turn mic audio all the way down.

Start transmitting and adjust the mic level until the power output just 
begins to dip with mic modulation.

That should do it.

Best solid state rig I have ever used on AM is the TS-480HX. It puts out 
a 50 watt AM carrier, and strong upwards modulation that will exceed 100 
watts On The Radio's Watt Meter which is rms ... am NOT talking PEP 
power output. Has a high duty cycle for transmit / receive with 
excellent cooling system.

Yep, I have the FT-1000MP, and I love it, will always keep it ... but 
with out a linear, AM is a challenge with it.
