[1000mp] Need a troubleshooting pointer

The reason for less power on any mode is duty cycle of the transmitter and power supply thereof. With AM, JT65, PSK31 to a less extent you are at a 100% duty cycle while transmitting it is like CW key down all the time. With something like SSB your output varies with voice vary seldom do you reach full power. You would exceed the heat and power dissapation limits of your finals and power supply by running 100W AM for long winded conversations. You can run 100W on CW and SSB because they are much lower duty cycle rate modes. Hope that helps 73 Morris WA4MIT
