[1000mp] Main VFO Dial Slips

Rich,

Both Morris and Byron Campbell had the fix: prise off the rubber ring over the main dial, open the set screw on the dial and remove it. Carefully twist off the tension spring and remove. If the little retaining ring comes off, set it aside. Now wipe off the grease that has seeped onto the shaft USING ONLY A PAPER TOWEL. NO DEGREASER!! I wiped off the inside of the knob, the inside of the retaining ring and the spring as well, again using only the paper towel. When you're done, put the ring back on, screw the spring back on (Byron recommends screwing it on somewhat tightly), then return the knob and set the set screw. Test the dial for tension and adjust the spring as you prefer, then make sure the set screw is engaged and replace the rubber ring and you're set.

Kudos to Byron and Morris.
