Hi Morris
I am interested in this as well. I looked through my FT 1000 Mark V (200w)
Operating Manual and do not see the pictures. Can you tell me where to find
them?
Thanks,
Rich VE6AX

Hi Peter
There is a tension spring behind the main tuning knob that may be adjusted
for this or it may be broken. The Rubber on the main knob must be removed
loosen a set screw in the knob remove the knob then move the spring around
the shaft to the right to tightend(more) tension on knob. There are pictures
in rear of 1000mp manual about this. Hope that helps otherwise you might
have a loose optical encoder but that would seem unlikely.

My venerable Mk V has developed a problem: In some positions (finger hole at
2 o'clock to 5 o'clock), the main VFO-A dial continues to turn after I take
my hand off it. This causes my frequency to change, so it's clearly a
mechanical problem with the dial. Is this something that has been seen
frequently? Is there a way to repair it?
thanks in advance,
