Dear Ray KB5DO: Thank you for your note and interest.

Yes. Both of us understand that only about 30 antenna settings (each linked
to a frequency) are allowed. I have written down the frequencies where I
have engaged my tuner. So, if I need to use the tuner on (say) a band edge
I tune the transceiver to the exact same frequency used last time (and
recorded on a card) and then assert the tuner.

I have not quite got my head around why my colleague feels the need to keep
the tuner in his FT1000 MkV asserted when he is tuning around. However, he
receives all sorts of spurious signals when he receives while the tuner is
asserted.

He did do a master reset, which you note gets one back to zero storage, and
still hears strong, wrong signals.

Again, thanks for your observation. 73, Mac N8TT

Hi I just read you note on the 1000mp forum. Did I understand you
correctly, that the cross channel interference is only when you engage the
tuner with the tuner button? You do understand when this button is pushed,
the tuner applies transmitter power and seeks to match the antenna. You are
only allow to save so many antenna settings. I believe about 2 per band.
When you reach end, it does not tune antenna properly. You then have to
reset and re-tune each band. It is all explained in owner manual. Hope
this might help.
