Jim:
After reading your message suggesting that the AF OUT jack in the Mark V was
not silenced during transmit I called a friend who has an FT1000MP Mark V
and we ran an experiment with his radio which had been newly refurbished by
a Yaesu authorized service center. In addition to a number of other
adjustments they had tested the AF OUT jack because he thought it was not
behaving properly. They declared that it is "now' working correctly.
We used the AF OUT to drive a amplified speaker which had stereo inputs. On
RX the speaker worked as expected. We connected the radio to a dummy load
and turned on the Monitor function and transmitted. We adjusted the monitor
volume so that the mic audio could be heard on the radio internal speaker.
Then the amplified speaker was connected. On RX the amplified speaker
continued to produce the RX audio. But, when one transmitted into a dummy
load and had the Monitor function on at the level which produced internal
speaker output there was no output from the amplified speaker connected to
the AF OUT jack. The AF OUT output was silenced during transmit.
Perhaps there is something wrong with my friend's Mark V. It would be
helpful if others with a Mark V would run the same experiment and report
what they found.
We went through the schematics for the Mark V and found the same J3036
output connector that seems to have no functional connection to any other
part of the radio.
