Dear Group,
I own a FT1000MP that I purchased in damaged condition and attempted to
repair, but with rather limited luck.
It sort of works, but only when i use the CAT interface and e.g. Ham
Radio Deluxe for remote control - none of the front panel controls
responds, except for the VFO knobs. It appears not to transmit anything
when i key it.
The damage was done during transport when, somehow, the radio got a
(hard, I believe) blow to the main VFO tuning knob. The blow crushed the
middle part of the PCB immediately behind the front panel - the one with
all the push buttons on it. A lot of the PCB tracks were broken and the
PCB it self rather warped. The most damage was done to the area around
connector for the ribbon cable just behind the VFO tuning encoder. I
tried to repair it a couple of times by wiring the connections with thin
isolated copper wire, but the result ended up as described. The damage
to the mechanicals on the front plate with the tuning knob and the
encoder has been fixed successfully. Maybe there are additional damage
that I can't see.
I've given up on the PCB repair and have started scouring the net for
spare parts. So far i haven't had any success. (I've also tried to ask
Yaesu through proper channels, but no luck there either).
Is it possible to obtain a new PCB to replace the broken one somewhere?
Thanks in advance.
