Switch the meter to display the power supply voltage and watch if there is a
significant voltage drop if you enhance the output power.
Another possible source might be that your trx or some of the attached
peripheral devices catches some RF if the tx power is higher than a certain
threshold. In fact it is also possible that both effects occur at the same
time if RF affects proper function your power supply.

Just found, the effect, descibed earlier, the couple of HZ tone in the
headphones, when starting TX, can be eliminated if power is lowered.
It starts, when Power control knob is more than 9'clock position..
I am using DC version, could it be, that the power supply is too weak?
