[1000mp] 70 MHz IF tap

Hal:

Use a FET follower to capture the signal ahead of the 12.5 MHz [that is the
Yaesu standard as I recall ] roofing filter at the output of the up
converter mixer  . The FET follower circuit needs to be designed to
accommodate a high impedance input and have a low impedance [ nominally 50
ohms] output. Doing that should allow you to run a very small diameter coax
to your gold connector on the apron and use your nifty device. 

I expect someone on this list < maybe me if the price is right > would be
interested in buying your  SM-7071 unit if you decide the 70 MHz tap is not
something you want to fool with.
