[1000mp] 2000D and VL1000 on the AM Broadcast Band?

Dear Jim,

Methinks the diodes will need to be removed to allow out-of-band
transmission from the '2000.

Finding an amplifier that will perform on A-M service below 160 meters
will more than likely require some slight modifications to an
amateur-service
device.

However, it might behoove the club to look on the broadcaster used
equipment
websites for a stand-alone A-M transmitter that with a club project
could be
made ready for emergency broadcast service.

What about the licensing issue(s)?

The emcomm club I belong to has been asked if we have the capability of
transmitting AM on the 550-1600 kHz band in a disaster. The idea being
that, as we are located in the hardened EOC building, it would be
extremely beneficial to have this capability in the event that the
normal broadcast stations or the links to them are down.

My MkV will transmit FB (tested using a dummy load, of course) down to
1500 kHz on the 160m band.

Will the 2000D do this? How about the VL1000? Would another amp be
better? (Auto tune Alpha?)

If they will, I think they'll tell us to get them.
