[1000mp] 2000D and VL1000 on the AM Broadcast Band?

The emcomm club I belong to has been asked if we have the capability of 
transmitting AM on the 550-1600 kHz band in a disaster.  The idea being 
that, as we are located in the hardened EOC building, it would be 
extremely beneficial to have this capability in the event that the 
normal broadcast stations or the links to them are down.

My MkV will transmit FB (tested using a dummy load, of course) down to 
1500 kHz on the 160m band.

Will the 2000D do this?  How about the VL1000?  Would another amp be 
better?  (Auto tune Alpha?)

If they will, I think they'll tell us to get them.
